Class 1 

We’ve had a wonderful start to the year, making new friends and settling into routines. This half term, we’re focusing on listening skills and social phrases, practised through play, stories, snack time and circle time.

Our topic this half term is ‘All About Me’. We have really enjoyed sharing our ‘All About Me’ boxes with our classmates. We will learn about ourselves and our families, explore where we live, discover our five senses, learn about our bodies and body parts, and understand how to make healthy choices to keep our bodies strong and well.

As part of our topic will be reading ‘Kipper’s Birthday’ by Mick Inkpen, ‘Funny Bones’ by Janet & Allan Ahl berg and ‘Hairy Maclary from Donaldsons Dairy’ by Lynley Dodd. Through our Drawing Club sessions, we will explore a range of exciting stories, developing rich vocabulary, creativity and imagination.

In Maths Reception will develop a secure understanding of number through counting, recognising small quantities, comparing amounts, and exploring how numbers are made up of smaller parts. They will build confidence with numbers to 5 and beyond. Year 1 will explore place value to 10—counting, number lines, and finding 1 more/less with Class 2.

In R.E, our theme is Being Special and Where Do We Belong?, building on our ‘All About Me’ boxes.

In P.E we will use our imagination to create simple games using a wide range of equipment. By working with a partner, we will collaborate and share ideas.
